How to Grow Onion / प्याज़ कैसे उगाएं
1 Soil Preparation
Onion grows best in well drained loamy soil. The soil should be fertile and rich in organic matter. Before planting farmers should plough the field properly and add compost or organic manure.
2 Seed Selection
Farmers should select high quality certified seeds. Healthy seeds reduce disease risk and improve production.
3 Nursery Preparation
Onion seeds are first grown in nursery beds. After about 40 to 50 days seedlings are transplanted into the main field.
4 Irrigation
Onion crops require regular irrigation. However excessive water can damage bulbs. Drip irrigation is recommended because it saves water and improves crop health.
5 Fertilizer Management
Farmers should apply balanced fertilizers including nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Organic manure such as compost or cow dung helps maintain soil fertility.
